Cedar – Select Tight Knot
If you are looking to beautify your home or cottage, cedar accents are the best choice. This high-end product adds an elegant look to any project. It’s commonly used as trim or to create accents on gables or soffits and cedar shakes and shingles are proven to last longer than conventional roofing and add value to your home.
Cedar – Clear
If you are looking to build a sauna or replace your soffits with cedar, and would prefer the look of no knots, we do carry some tongue & groove for the walls & ceilings and 2x4s for the benches. While it is not necessary, clear cedar does provide a cleaner look but be prepared as it is pricey. Stock is limited and may have to be specially ordered.
Cedar Dimensional Lumber
The Shake Shop carries a wide variety of dimensional lumber. Ranging from 2 x 4 to 2 x 12 in 6ft to 16ft lengths. Some longer lengths are available by special order. Some of these products are kiln-dried. This provides the highest quality and durability available. All have eased edges for enhanced appearance. Most are select tight knot. We do stock some in clear cedar for trim and sauna applications.
CEDAR FENCING
We stock all the materials necessary to build many types of fences. our 1×6 fence boards come in 5ft & 6ft lengths and are the best quality available on the market today. They come mainly with one rough sawn face and the rest smooth. We find that the rough face is the best as it is always perfect and accommodates stain better meaning that you need to recoat less often. We also offer some 1×4 and 1×8 fence boars which add character to your fence. If you wish to build a horizontal fence, we recommend our 5/4 x 5 cedar decking. It comes in 8 to 16ft lengths and makes a beautiful fence (see photo). We also stock 100% cedar prebuilt 6ft x 8ft fence panels. These are available with or without lattice tops. Our panels are all screwed, not nailed together and have a full 5/4 x 6 deck board mounted vertically to help prevent sag. These are built in house and the quality is second to none. For your posts, we offer high quality, rot resistant 4x4s in 8, 10 and 12 ft lengths.
Cedar Fascia
The Shake Shop has a wide variety of S1S2E fascia boards which have one rough sawn face and 3 smooth. These are available in 1 x 4, 1 x 6, 1 x 8, 1 x 10, and 1 x 12. They are all approximately 3/4 inch thick.
Cedar – Timbers – Posts – Mantles
For those that appreciate the beauty of real wood, we recommend our rough sawn cedar timbers. They range from one-inch-thick planks up to a full 12 inch or more. If you are planning to build a pergola or just want to add a feature post by your entry, we stock cedar posts from 4×4 up to 12×12 and what we don’t have, we can special order based on log availability. If you are looking for a fireplace mantle or shelves, we offer a variety of rough sawn timbers for this application and even may have some live edge slabs with unique character. We can offer a variety of species but mainly cedar and pine.
Cedar Shakes & Shingles
Cedar shakes add a rustic, yet sophisticated look to any home or garage roof. They last 2 to 3 times longer than conventional asphalt shingles. Cedar shake roofing adds value and curb appeal to your home. Cedar is rot and insect resistant. We stock only #1 heavy cedar split shakes. Medium thickness is available on a special-order basis. We also stock the 18-inch-wide rolls of shake felt. The felt is applied to your roof under each course of shakes. The felt is marked to help to line up each course.
The Shake Shop also offers a wide variety of taper-sawn cedar shingles. These are used for walls or some roofing applications. They come in different grades and thicknesses. These shingles are seen on the gable ends of homes, garages, and sheds. They add style and beauty to any structure. Feel free to contact us to discuss which product is best for you.

Cedar Radius Edge Decking
The Shake Shop has cedar radius-edged decking in 5/4 x 5, and 5/4 x 6.
We only stock select tight knot products with a high-quality face that is one inch thick. These are available from 6ft to 16ft lengths. Nothing beats the look of a real cedar deck, and for a fraction of the cost for composite materials.
We recommend protecting your cedar deck with Messmer’s UV Plus 100% oil-based stain to maintain it’s beauty and protect the finish. We stock it in a range of colors.
Cedar Radius Edge Fencing
Cedar radius edged deck boards make a beautiful sturdy fence, especially coated with our Messmer’s UV Plus true oil stain. Shown here is our 5/4 x 5 full one inch thick deck boards. Come see us at 1500 5th Ave in Regina
Pine Log Siding
Available by special order and stocked in Winnipeg, we can supply 2×6 or 2×8 log profile siding with a slight vertical reveal. It is stocked in pine but can also be produced in cedar, with or without the reveal.
Messmer’s UV Plus & Superdeck Stain
Superdeck oil-based stain is no longer being produced but we have purchased the remaining inventory in Canada. If this is what you are using, please check to see if we still have stock as it is limited. We now offer Messmer’s UV Plus which is proving to be a superior product, and it is stocked in a range of colors, Please visit our store and we will figure out what’s best for you. We only recommend a true oil stain for cedar used outdoors.
